The Eigenbase Project

Welcome to Eigenbase

The Eigenbase Project provides an open-source platform for building data management systems in a wide variety of application spaces, including
  • online transaction processing and decision support
  • data warehousing, business intelligence, and online analytical processing
  • data integration and federation
  • enterprise application integration
  • metadata management
  • content management
  • next-generation file systems
Traditionally, data management systems have been developed as either
  • one-size-fits-all behemoths: pounding a square peg into holes of various shapes and trying to patch up the results with integration, or
  • purpose-built precision instruments: solving a particular problem very well in a specific context, but suffering from isolation, inflexibility, and inability to keep up with changing technologies and standards
The Eigenbase Project aims to provide a common platform together with reliable methodology for rapid assembly of innovative, specialized solutions that can coherently operate and evolve together. We believe this vision can only become reality by channeling the creative power of open-source collaboration.

18-Aug-2007: Platform maintenance release 0.7.1 is now available.

8-Jun-2007: Platform release 0.7.0 is now available, with many enhancements to all frameworks and extension projects.

28-Jan-2007: Platform release 0.6.0 is now available, together with a new extension project, LucidDB.

8-Jun-2006: The IRS has approved our tax-exempt 501(c)(3) status as a public charity. Donations are tax deductible.

4-Dec-2005: The Eigenbase issue tracking system is now available courtesy of Atlassian Software, makers of JIRA.

20-July-2005: A wiki for use by the Eigenbase community has been set up.

27-June-2005: First platform incubation release (0.5.0).
